United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Selects VANTIX to Provide Nationwide Program Management for USDA 1890 Scholars Program

WASHINGTON, DC - - - VANTIX has been selected as the prime vendor to provide nationwide training and program management services to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of Civil Rights. The 1890 Scholars Program is a partnership between of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities. The program awards scholarships to students to attend one of 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Universities that choose to study agrarian sciences and was established to enhance employment and advancement of students through partnerships, mentoring programs, intern positions and corporate recruitment initiatives.

Although the program focuses on students, the information disseminated and items discussed pertain to career and employment issues that interest and help all Agrarian industry professionals regardless of gender. USDA required an experienced provider of program management services to provide the coordination and prioritization of educational and training resources across one thousand eight hundred and ninety (1890) colleges and universities. The agency needed to ensure that resource contention amongst students and mentors nationwide was managed in an efficient manner. After a competitive selection process, USDA chose VANTIX to implement career and development training, program logistics and management controls across all university programs.

USDA 1890 Scholars Program

The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program offers scholarships to U.S. citizens who are seeking a bachelor's degree at one of the seventeen 1890 Historically Black Land-Grant Institutions and Tuskegee University to study agriculture, food, or natural resource sciences and related majors. The program helps to strengthen the partnership between USDA and the 1890 institutions; helps to increase the number of students studying agriculture and related disciplines; and offers career opportunities at USDA.
